Winter White Russian dwarf hamster, Campbell's Russian hamster and the Roborovski's dwarf hamster are species that comes under the category of Russian dwarf hamster. The Russian winter white and the Campbell's Russian dwarf have almost similar features and hence, it often becomes difficult to differentiate between the two. 
They both have a size that measure up to 8 to 10cm and also similar body colours. The Roborovski dwarf hamster is known to be the smallest of the three species of hamster having a size of 4-5cm.
Of the Winter White dwarf hamster and the Campbell's Russian hamster the former is known to be a rare species. The Winter White dwarfs are sold in pairs and are known for their friendly nature. 
During the winter times they have the ability to change colour in their native homeland. They change from their original colour of dark grey to white mainly to camouflage themselves in the snow and hide from their predators. This change in colour is due to the natural sunlight that they receive on a daily basis.
"Djungaria" another name for the Campbell's hamster has their origin in the Mongolian region of Djungaria, hence the second name. You will find this type of hamster at large at your nearest pet store. Their growing popularity is attributed to their creative breeding and the increasing number of colour combinations, spots and marks. Apart from their normal wild colour, they are also available in cinnamon, black, shades of blue or lilac, in spots and other marks.
Roboroski dwarfs were originally found in the desert banks of Western and Eastern regions of Mongolia and parts of Northern China. Smaller than the White Winter Russian hamster and the Campbell's hamster, they also have longer legs. Their body is enveloped with a coat and an undercoat, of brown and grey respectively. They are extremely energetic and can run at a high-speed. 
Hence, as pet they are not so great because of their boisterous nature. They are also extremely small in stature and hence, have the tendency to escape through cage bars. However, an interesting fact about them is that they are clean and takes great care in grooming themselves.
All the species of Russian dwarf hamster needs equal care and attention. Most of the them love to indulge themselves in lively activities. For their entertainment purpose you can even get them hamster balls that are available at all pet stores.
